Find cheap flights to Bergerac with TravelSupermarket and enjoy a short break in this beautiful region of south-west France...
Nestled amid a vine-clad Aquitaine landscape on the eastern edges of the world-famous Bordeaux wine region, Bergerac lures fewer tourists than some of its more notable counterparts. The wine here is some of the best in France however. Try a drop of Bergerac, or a Cotes de Bergerac Blanc - just be sure to check your duty-free allowance as you'll be desperate to bring a couple of bottles home.
Bergerac is a fine place in which to lay your holiday hat for a while. It offers easy access to the many beauty spots of Dordogne, while lazy days without a car can be spent sipping drinks at friendly cafés, exploring age-old streets, or perusing the exhibits at museums about wine and tobacco, which is the second most famous export of the area.
Bergerac flights are especially popular between late spring and early autumn, when the sun sits high in the sky for hours on end and kisses the land, those famous grapes, and the skin of visitors. A little rain falls each month, but you'll forgive any cloudy skies when you taste the results of the local harvest.
This wonderful corner of France has numerous direct flights from the UK, making it easy to access year round...

So you've arrived on your flight to Bergerac, now what? Find out how to get around once on the ground...
There are no public buses available from Bergerac Airport and the airport is not close to a train line. That leaves two options: car hire and taxis.
You can collect a rental vehicle at the airport when you book car hire in Bergerac and be on your way within minutes. This allows you the freedom to discover Dordogne at your own pace.
Alternatively, you can use one of the taxis that wait at an official rank outside the airport terminal building to travel into Bergerac, to go a little further afield, or to be dropped off at the main bus station or railway station in Bergerac. From there you can connect to bus and train services that travel to other towns and cities in the area. It should cost no more than 20 euros to travel by taxi between the airport and central Bergerac.
From a quaint countryside inn to an opulent chateau in the hills, there are all types of accommodation available around Bergerac...
The historic central core of Bergerac is home to a number of good hotels in which the past hangs like a painting on the wall. Some do it with fine style - even managing to get facilities such as swimming pools onto the property - while some have let the painting get a little tatty around the edges. All are welcoming however, and cleanliness is well regarded in these parts.
Just like any of the wine-growing regions in France, hotels, inns, B&Bs and French chateaux sit within the undulating countryside and greet visitors looking for a place to get away from urban life. Around Bergerac you'll find a number of luxury hotels, as well as rustic lodgings that offer basic facilities, a clean room, great food, and, of course, some of the finest wine available anywhere in the world.
The city of Bordeaux is a 90-minute drive to the west and has a much larger range of accommodation options than Bergerac, while the towns and cities of Aquitaine offer even more choice. If you decide to hire a car in Bergerac, you have more freedom to look for a hotel that suits you. Staying in a rural location is not ideal if you don't have a vehicle as public transportation is limited.
