As an increasingly popular destination, Mauritius has frequent direct flights from the UK. All flights land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International (MRU), which is located on the south-eastern side of the island. From the airport, it takes just over an hour to Grand Baie in the north but less than sixty minutes to the capital, Port Louis, on the west coast.
British Airways and TUI both fly direct from London Gatwick (LGW) to Mauritius, while Air Mauritius flies direct from London Heathrow (LHR) with a flight time of just under 12 hours.
As direct flights can be expensive, a cheaper option for budget-conscious travellers is to book flights with a stopover; Eurowings currently offers some of the cheapest fares. Departing from London Stansted (STN) with a stopover in Cologne, this option gives you an opportunity to stretch your legs before the onward journey to Mauritius.
