British Airways and TUI both fly direct from London Gatwick (LGW) to Mauritius, while Air Mauritius flies direct from London Heathrow (LHR) with a flight time of just under 12 hours.
As direct flights can be expensive, a cheaper option for budget-conscious travellers is to book flights with a stopover; Eurowings currently offers some of the cheapest fares. Departing from London Stansted (STN) with a stopover in Cologne, this option gives you an opportunity to stretch your legs before the onward journey to Mauritius.
Although there are no direct flights to Mauritius from Manchester (MAN) and Glasgow (GLA), cheap flights with a speedy connection are easily available. Air France and Emirates are two popular options which have stopovers in Paris and Dubai respectively, with journey times ranging from 14 hours to 17 hours each way.
Other UK airports such as Bristol (BRS), Birmingham (BHX), Glasgow (GLA) and Edinburgh (EDI) offer flights with two or more stopovers, although bear in mind that the total flight time can be over 20 hours. If the journey is too exhausting, you could break up the journey by spending a few days exploring your stopover city.
January to March in Mauritius is hot and wet with a risk of cyclones, but these weather hazards mean you’re more likely to find cheap deals during this period. Air fares tend to be more expensive from June to August, corresponding with the summer holidays in Europe.
October and November are the shoulder months with dry, warm weather and fewer tourists, so if you’re looking to avoid the crowds, this would be your best season. Christmas is another high season, but there are cheap flight deals available if you book well in advance.

When searching for flights to Mauritius, you may come across Sir Gaëtan Duval Airport (RRG) on Rodrigues, an island dependency of Mauritius which is about 560km (350 miles) east of Mauritius. Flights to Rodrigues are usually more expensive and require at least two stopovers. Make sure you enter the right airport code, MRU, for Mauritius when booking your flights.
