Today the airport is a major base for low cost airlines with easyJet and Ryanair offering a wide range of flights to Europe and North Africa from Liverpool. They are joined by Wizz Air, Blue Air and Flybe.

Named after one of the city's beloved Beatles, Liverpool's John Lennon Airport is located a little way south of the centre in Speke, Merseyside. It takes around 25 minutes to drive from the airport to the heart of Liverpool.

Public transport between the two is frequent and efficient. Bus services call at the airport every 20 minutes and whisk passengers into the city for just a couple of pounds each.

A taxi fare from the airport to the city centre is around £15. If you're arriving from overseas and don't have any local currency, don't despair, you can use a credit or debit card in cabs that display the Chip, PIN & Go sign.
