You can drive the Outward Bound Route to see the varied flora and fauna, go on a safari in one of the nearby reserves and experience the Big Seven – Great White shark, humpback whale, lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino – both in the reserves and along the coastline. The reserve isn’t too far from another great attraction in this part of the world – the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
Round off your stay with the must-see Cape Recife Lighthouse. It’s only a 30-minute drive from Port Elizabeth, but the zebra-striped structure, built in 1851, carries an almost iconic status in South Africa.
