A great sporting city, the World Snooker Championships take place here and Don Valley Stadium is used for training by Olympic champion, Jessica Ennis. Home to Ennis as well as traveller Michael Palin and rock band the Arctic Monkeys, Sheffield is bursting with history and culture. The Botanical and Winter Gardens are beautiful to wander around, and for shoppers, Meadow Hall has 280 designer and high street stores to browse.
Barnsley is a 30-minute drive west from Doncaster, which is home to an 18th Century country house, displaying Old Master paintings. York and Leeds are not too far from Doncaster and the Yorkshire coast can be reached easily with your rental car.
