Located just 20 miles from central London, the town of Watford is well placed for breaks that take in town and city pursuits. With the convenience of a hired car you can also enjoy access to nearby countryside and family attractions.

Watford is close to London. When you book car hire you can also enjoy access to nearby countryside and family attractions...

Watford is a town in the English county of Hertfordshire. It sits within the M25 motorway, the 117-mile route that winds around the capital, and is within minutes of the M1, which connects London with the northern city of Leeds. These excellent road connections make Watford extremely well placed for access to the theatres, museums, restaurants and attractions of London, as well as almost anywhere else you could dream of being in England. There are destinations near and far that will make your holiday perfect.

But don't stray too far from Watford just yet. This busy town will offer a warm welcome and has much to keep visitors entertained.

There's a lively shopping scene in the town centre, plus a market that draws crowds three times a week. For evening diversions, Watford's two theatres are complemented by a comedy club - so there's a good chance of booking tickets to a show that will suit you.

On the site of the former Benskins Brewery Mansion is Watford Museum, where you can learn about the ancient roots of the area. You can also discover more here about Watford Football Club, which plays at the town's Vicarage Road stadium. You can see the Hornets during the Championship season and you might even catch a glimpse of footy fan and music legend Sir Elton John, who is an Honorary Life President of the club.

Journeys into London are incredibly easy from Watford. Leave your car behind and simply jump aboard a train - you can be at the heart of the capital in just 20 minutes.

You can collect your rental car at one of the convenient downtown locations in and around Watford. To find a great deal on car hire, use the search tool on TravelSupermarket to compare prices with leading providers.
