Luxuriate by the pool, slip and slide at epic splash parks, swim around shipwrecks and wander in the foothills of sleeping volcanoes… on a family holiday to Cape Verde, you can do it all.
The hardest part of a holiday to this ten-island archipelago is choosing your perfect base. Sal’s golden sands are brilliant for lounging, nesting turtles on Boa Vista’s beaches will excite young Attenboroughs, and there’s whale watching and mountain hikes on São Vicente. Or, you could combine it all into one action-packed, island-hopping holiday.

Sal
From the buzzing capital of Espargos to the tranquillity of Pachamama Eco Park, the family-friendly island of Sal has something for little kids – and big ones too. Whether you wander the salt flats of Pedra Lume, ride Sal’s thrilling zipline or search for lemon sharks in Shark Bay, you’ll make some sensational memories here.
Boa Vista
Head to Boa Vista between July and October to watch Cape Verde’s resident turtles hatch in their natural habitat. Elsewhere, you can sandboard down the dunes, swim around the Atalanta Beach shipwreck and mosey through the markets of the capital, Sal Rei.
São Vicente
There are few better ways to see São Vicente than on a family 4x4 tour of the island’s top sights. For a more sedate day by the bay, pack a beach bag and head for the warm, welcoming waters of Ponta Preta. If family hikes are more your scene, try the stunning forest trails, valleys and vineyards of Laurissilva.
