- Majorca’s petrol stations are called gasolineras and you’ll find them in most of the major towns and cities, including Palma. Diesel is known as gasóleo, while lead-free is sin-plomo. If you fancy an off-the-beaten-track jaunt into the rural countryside, be sure to go with a full tank.
- Life on the road will be easier if you skip the tight, narrow lanes and tricky one-way system of Palma’s old town and use the boulevards that circle the city centre instead.
- You’ll find it hard to bag an on-street parking spot downtown. So unless your hotel has a car park of its own, or an arrangement with one close by, public car parks are your best bet. Most charge by the hour and Parc de la Mar, close to the cathedral, is a good choice.
