Located a little over 10 miles from London, the market town of Epsom is in the county of Surrey. Epsom Downs Racecourse is on the southern edge of town and is the famous host of the Epsom Derby, which takes place every year in June. Epsom also lends its name to magnesium sulphate, more commonly known as Epsom salt, which was produced from the spring waters that rose from the North Downs.

These two things, of course, have very little bearing on day-to-day life in this pleasant town.
