International Film Festival; May-June: A celebration of short films and documentaries that inform, educate and entertain. It is the largest film festival in the United States.

Seafair; July: Since 1950, Seafair has brought the community of Seattle together every summer in a five-week festival. Events include live concerts, fireworks display, triathlon and milk carton derby.

Bellevue Arts and Crafts Fair; July: 325 artists show their work in booths, there's live entertainment, a fantastic array of food and activities to entertain the whole family.

Kids and teens: The Seattle Aquarium is the perfect rainy-day outing for the family. You’ll see plenty of marine life and learn – in a fun way of course – about the nearby ocean.

Free and cheap: Another summer event – Bite of Seattle – provides a free look and taste of the city’s excellent cuisine. There’s music and plenty of family fun too.

Shopping: In the run up to Christmas, many people like to visit Seattle for its shopping. There is a good choice of independent and boutique stores as well as the popular Pike Place Market. The Seattle Center Winterfest also sprinkles a little extra magic during the festive period.
