San Antonio Bay is one of the most beautiful areas in the Mediterranean. Quieter than Ibiza Town, it is perfect for family beach holidays. Holidays to San Antonio Bay are also terrific for local culture.

Located on the west coast of Ibiza, the bay is a 20-minute drive from the airport (IBZ). San Antonio, or San An', itself has three sections. The town (Westend) is popular for its nightlife, shopping and restaurants and contains a beautiful promenade, busy with yachts and boats. There is one beach in the town that has safe and shallow waters, ideal for families.
The Cala De Bou – the bay proper – is generally a lot more relaxed than San Antonio town, making it a popular choice for family holidays. There are five sandy beaches to choose from in San Antonio Bay, large enough for lounging on and with plenty of activities on offer such as jet skiing, parasailing or riding a banana boat. The beaches also offer other activities for kids, including parks, mini golf and bouncy castles.
The Ses Veriades, or Sunset Strip, is ideal for watching some of the beautiful sunsets that San Antonio is famous for. Along the strip is the well-known Café del Mar and the Mambo club that hosts Radio 1 parties. Other club attractions on San Antonio Bay holidays include Es Paradis club, with its decorations, natural gardens and water parties that attract visitors from all over the world.
San Antonio Bay offers easy access to other parts of the island, with regular bus services running to and from Ibiza Town (or Eivissa). As well as its popular restaurants, bars and clubs, the Marina and shopping boutiques, the island capital also contains the historic Old Town (also called Dalt Vila). A Unesco site, Dalt Vila is surrounded by a 16th-century wall. Other sights within Ibiza Town include the 14th century Santa Maria d'Eivissa cathedral and the archaeological site Puig de Molins (necropolis).

The all-year round hot and dry weather is one of the reasons why San Antonio Bay is such a popular destination...
Even throughout winter, average temperatures stay above 16C and it rarely rains. July and August are usually the hottest months in San Antonio, with average temperatures of at least 30C.
The best time to find sunny but cheap San Antonio Bay holidays is during the months either side of the busy summer season. Late May and early June are when the tourism scene really gets going but the big crowds don’t arrive until July so you might want to plan holidays in San Antonio Bay outside that month. From mid-September until early November the same theory applies, though cheap breaks are available all year to the sun-soaked island of Ibiza.
Ibiza is not the sort of place that passes up a chance to party. Check out what’s on when around San Antonio...
Eivissa Medieval Festival May: A 20-minute hop across the island delivers you in the Old Town of Ibiza: Dalt Vila. The medieval past of this seriously beautiful and historic slice of the island is celebrated every May and you can join in the fun.
Ibiza Rocks; throughout summer: Since 2005, Ibiza Rocks has taken place in San Antonio throughout the summer. This includes a series of rock concerts held at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Past Ibiza Rocks acts include Florence and the Machine, the Arctic Monkeys and The Specials.
The Fiesta of Saint Bartholomew; August: The main square overlooking the bay is the best place to see the Fiesta fireworks display. There are a number of other festivals held throughout the year, including Santa Eulalia in May and Nostras Senyora des Neus in August
Make your holiday in San Antonio perfect – whatever you are into...
Relaxing: San Antonio may be known as Ibiza's party capital – but it’s also great for relaxing and recharging the batteries. Sun seekers should head to the town's main beach, where they can spend the day unwinding on a lounger, only moving to grab a long cool drink from one of the many bars.
Romance: The Sunset Strip is the perfect setting for romance. Watch the sun go down in a pink sky while sipping on cocktails and listening to chilled-out beats in a beach-front bar.
Nightlife: Take advantage of Ibiza's legendary clubbing scene. Start your evening in the restaurants and bars of the vibrant West End, then dance the night away in world-class clubs such as Es Paradis and Eden on the San Antonio waterfront.
