Menorca has just one airport, but as it’s a relatively small island, it’s easy enough to get anywhere you want to go from here. The airport is located close to the capital city, Mahon, and even Ciutadella, on the other side of the island, can be reached in well under an hour.
Flights usually take between two and three hours, depending on which British airport you take off from, bringing you close to sun, sea and sand in the same time it takes to watch a movie.
As of 2016, no fewer than 17 British airports operate direct flights to Menorca, including East Midlands (EMA), Manchester (MAN) and London Gatwick (LGW) in England, Cardiff (CWL) in Wales, Belfast (BFS) in Northern Ireland, and Edinburgh (EDI) and Glasgow (GLA) in Scotland.
There are direct flights to Menorca airport with Jet2, departing from Birmingham (BHX), East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds Bradford (LBA) and Newcastle (NCL), while easyJet operates flights to Menorca from Bristol (BRS), London Luton (LTN) and London Gatwick airports. Other airlines including Monarch, Thomson and Ryanair also operate services to Menorca.
For the best chance of nabbing the cheapest Menorca flights, check online regularly to keep abreast of changing fares.
As is true in other Balearic destinations, there’s a big variance in visitor numbers between the peak and off peak seasons. The bustling, full resorts of July are often near empty in November. The flight schedules from the UK to Menorca reflect this dearth of business and as a result, direct flights can be trickier to track down during the winter months.
That said, Monarch does operate a service running between one and two times per week from London Gatwick. So, book well in advance and you may be able to get a cheap Menorca flight in the off-peak season too.
With so many cheap flights, it is perhaps no surprise to learn that Menorca Airport receives a large number of travellers through its gates every year. As a result the airport has a good system of transfers and connections in place to get you to your resort and back again.
