Situated around 300 miles off the coast of West Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Verde is a fascinating mix of African and Portuguese cultural influences. Something of an unknown in the mass holiday market, these little islands are starting to draw more and more holidaymakers in search of affordable winter sun.
Think Caribbean-esque white sand beaches without the price tag and the long flight, and you’re half way to understanding what the fuss all about. Islands Sal and Boa Vista are perfect for couples looking for a romantic break or young families looking for a safe option with a good range of hotels.
For active thrill-seekers, a holiday to Cape Verde could involve awesome hiking on hillsides layered with frozen lava, incredible surfing and windsurfing, and excellent deep sea fishing.
If you're looking for something a little different and an average daytime temperature of 25°C, minimal rainfall and all-day sunshine, then Cape Verde could be the remote February escape you're looking for.

With an average flight time of around nine hours from the UK, the islands are much more accessible than many think. And with the dry season starting around mid-December, February is a brilliant time to visit the Caribbean – expect temperatures in the mid-20s and beyond!
Looking for a bargain? The best prices are often found in the Spanish Caribbean, in destinations such as the Dominican Republic and Cuba, both of which have excellent all-inclusive resorts and usually enjoy fantastic weather in February. As each island in the Caribbean is unique, prior research is essential to make sure you pick the right one for you.

The shiniest city in the United Arab Emirates is blessed with great weather and is well connected to the UK with daily non-stop flights. Dubai is a city with a hot and arid desert climate which ensures very warm and sunny weather all year round – in fact, it's almost too hot in the summer months, with temperatures reaching over 40°C.
A much more pleasant time to visit Dubai is from November to March when temperatures are more tolerable for sun-seekers.
February is much cooler, but with averages in the mid-20s, it’s still more than warm enough to spend the day on the beach, splashing about in the twinkling waters of the Arabian Gulf. If it gets too hot, duck into one of Dubai’s vast super malls for a spot of shopping. These enormous palaces of commerce are so well air-conditioned, you might forget you’re in the desert!

If you're looking for warm and sunny in February, then Florida might just do the trick. Besides Walt Disney World and the Orlando theme parks, there’s the stunning beaches such as St Petersburg and Clearwater, then you’ve got the Everglades, the Keys and the super-cool city of Miami – all in all, Florida is a brilliant choice for some winter sun.
With average temperature highs in the mid-20s, plenty of sunshine – there’s a reason they call it the “Sunshine State” – and basically no rain, it's a safe bet for British holidaymakers desperate for some vitamin D. Besides the theme parks, Florida is a prime location for shopping, culture and dining.
There’s no doubt that a lot of Florida, with its epic theme parks, diverse wildlife and brilliant cities, is an excellent family holiday destination. But outside of the school holidays, there are some real bargains to be had for couples seeking reliable weather and fun-filled things to do.

Located in the heart of Southeast Asia, Thailand is sub-tropical, which means it has very high humidity in February. As such, the monthly 30mm of rain is very welcome.
Thailand’s mix of blissful beaches, exotic islands and rich culture has been fascinating Brits for decades – it’s much more than just a winter sun destination!
