The Canary Islands consist of seven islands and can be found around 60 miles west of Morocco. The Canaries benefit from Africa's Sub-Saharan climate, allowing visitors to enjoy temperatures of around 25°C during September, perfect for a late hot holiday.
With more than 930 miles of beaches between them, and temperatures that remain pleasant all year round, it's no wonder that the Canaries are still one of the most popular holiday destinations for sun seekers.
Tenerife is the largest of the seven islands and has some of the most wonderful shores, including Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos. Tenerife is also home to Mount Teide, the island's volcanic centre piece.
The second largest island, Gran Canaria, is also home to some beautiful beaches, such as the three-and-a half-mile stretch of remarkable dunes and shimmering white sands that is Maspalomas. The sister islands are also home to some impressive beaches and resorts, and as September falls just outside the peak season, you'll be able to find a hot holiday that won't break the bank.
Costa Brava is still simmering away in September with temperatures in the low- to mid-twenties. If you’re looking for value but still want warm weather, September offers the perfect compromise. Prices are 36 per cent cheaper than in August and you’ll still enjoy plenty of hot days and sunshine.
Blessed with untouched natural beauty and a wilder feel than its southern counterparts, this dramatic stretch of Spain offers quiet fishing villages, classic resorts and miles of rugged coastline. While parts of the Costa Brava have become built up as a result of increased tourism, many smaller villages, such as Cadaqués, Pals, Tamariu, and L'Estartit, have stayed true to tradition.
Meanwhile, if you’re after the frills of a classic resort, Blanes, Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar won’t disappoint. The cultural riches and rural wineries of Catalonia are on your doorstep, along with some of Spain’s best golf courses, hiking routes and diving and snorkelling sites.
The Costa del Sol, or the Sun Coast, is one of the most popular destinations in the world for the humble British holidaymaker, so you'll be pleased to know that the Sun Coast is still reasonably hot and sunny in September. Averaging 23°C during the day, the Costa del Sol continues to offer beach weather as autumn arrives.
Flight time to the Costa del Sol is in around 2.5 hours from the UK and there is a wide range of resorts to suit every kind of traveller. Think Marbella, Puerto Banus, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Mijas and Nerja.
Whether you're a family, party animal, beach lover, or are just looking for somewhere with tranquillity, the Costa del Sol caters for every sort of holidaymaker.
Besides its 190 miles of stunning coastline, the Costa del Sol has much to see and do, from theme parks to historic palaces. A fantastic day trip can be taken to see Granada and the Alhambra Palace, or head down to Gibraltar for duty-free shopping.
Situated in the Mediterranean Sea, the island nation of Cyprus enjoys pleasant temperatures from April to November, making it an ideal destination in September.
The town of Paphos is well established as the destination of choice, as it accommodates the widest range of holidaymakers. It's home to a number of clean beaches, which attract more and more visitors each year.
Coral Bay is located seven miles from the town of Paphos, offering a 600-metre crescent of glistening white sand between magnificent headlands.
Cyprus has holiday locations to suit any budget. If you're looking for a hot holiday in September, with average daytime highs of 24C and a 4.5-hour flight from the UK, Cyprus might just be for you.
With a flight time of around three hours, you can be transported from Europe to somewhere that not only looks exotic, but feels it too.
Morocco is a fantastic place to visit, whether you opt for the Atlantic beach resort of Agadir or visit one of the cities for a combination of a city break with great sunshine around the pool of your hotel.
Morocco is best visited after the summer months for the more comfortable temperatures. September in Morocco is around 27C, with sunlight lasting about eight hours a day. Morocco can be separated into four main areas, from golden deserts to snow-capped landscapes.
However, if you're looking for the perfect beach setting, then you should look more towards the south west, with destinations such as Marrakech, Agadir and Essaouira.
The 9km of beach stretching across Agadir is the perfect place to find a variety of French-influenced resorts and hotels, while Marrakech is the best place to find a bargain with their world famous souks.
Whether you're looking for a little adventure or a place to just relax, Morocco has the weather to keep everyone hot in September.
This Indian Ocean group of islands is reached on flights taking around 10 hours from the UK, but this really is paradise.
When the Prince of Cambridge married Kate, this is where they headed on honeymoon. And while it is one of the most popular upmarket destinations for those celebrating tying the knot, it offers a truly idyllic destination for many seeking an exotic holiday.
The Seychelles can be found east of Africa in the Indian Ocean and consist of 115 islands. The Seychelles are considered by many honeymooners and couples as the most romantic place in the world; each island is beautiful and offers the tranquillity that many romantic couples long for.
September in the Seychelles is at the end of the southeast monsoon season, which is considered cooler but drier than if you were to visit during the northwest monsoon between November and March.
Even though temperatures are considered cooler, September averages around 26°C, with the added benefit of less rain compared to the hotter months. And as October is considered as the changeover month, you won't have to worry about unpredictable high winds.
