Spa breaks are available at locations all across the UK and also abroad, so where will you head for some pampering?
With so many UK hotels now offering spa treatments and facilities, you will be spoilt for choice. Many hotel chains now offer a spa service, but standards and quality do vary from hotel to hotel so always check reviews to see what other spa goers have made of their stay.
There are several well-known hotels renowned for their spa breaks, such as Champneys in Hertfordshire, Ragdale Hall in Leicestershire, and Cliveden House in Berkshire. However, there are many others to pick from. If you are looking for a day spa then the Sanctuary Spa in Covent Garden or the Spa at Blythswood Square in Glasgow both score highly for their service and quality.
Overseas you will find fantastic spas in many hotels in the Far East, the Maldives and the Middle East, where service is of the highest standards. And in Germany and Switzerland look out for spas in many towns. Budapest also has a whole range of spa centres in the city linked to its famous waters and offering a range of water based treatments.
Spa visits also make great presents for friends or family and gift vouchers are widely available.
Day spas start from just a few pounds but can cost up to several thousand for a high end pampering weekend blow out. But what do you get?
There are typically a wide variety of treatments on offer including full body massages, manicures, pedicures and facials, as well as the use of steam rooms, saunas and swimming pools, with many spa day packages also including meals and drinks (champagne is always a favourite!).
Always look for a list of treatments before booking and ensure you know what is included in the basic cost and what is additional. If you are not careful you could soon run up a huge bill, so be aware of what you are booking.
