When you arrive in Amsterdam, walk straight out of arrivals to your pre-booked transfer and travel to your accommodation in style.

If you’re on a mini-break in Amsterdam, time is likely to be precious, so be smart and book an airport transfer to eliminate any public transport headaches or delays. Transfer options at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) include private vehicles, cost-effective shuttle services and, if you’re looking to start your holiday with pizzazz, limousines.

Schiphol airport is around nine miles from the centre of Amsterdam and the journey by road will take around 25 minutes, depending on traffic. If you always opt to jump in a taxi on arrival, consider quitting queuing then haggling prices and instead compare private transfer options at home before you travel.

You may be surprised how cheap some of the deals are and will be able to budget for your journey before you’ve boarded your flight. You can make a decision on the vehicle you’d like to travel in and how much you’re willing to pay in your own time, but will still have the luxury of a door-to-door service.

You can also take the train from Schiphol Station, below the airport, to the centre of Amsterdam. However, unlike transfers that will take you to your hotel’s door, you’ll be left to make your own way from the nearest station to your hotel – which might seem like hard work after a flight.

If you’re travelling with kids or with lots of luggage, consider whether the increased cost of a private transfer is worth the ease not having to lug all of your luggage on and off public transport and then around the streets of Amsterdam – wouldn’t you rather be sipping a drink in a café?

If price is a priority, look at shuttle services where you and a number of other passengers share the vehicle but are still dropped off at your accommodation. You could also consider a private minibus if you’re travelling in a group where, the larger your party size, the cheaper the cost per head is likely to be.

A little planning now will mean the only thing you need to worry about when you arrive is whether to explore a museum or take a stroll down the canals. So, browse your options now on TravelSupermarket and sidestep any stress on arrival.
