Navigating London can be tricky, especially with luggage in tow. So make your journey into the Big Smoke easy with a cheap airport transfer straight to your hotel’s door.

One of the world’s great cities, London is packed to the brim with exciting things to see and do. Whether you’re seeking world class art in one of its many galleries, delving deep into its rich history or hopping the trendy bars of Dalston, Chelsea or Brixton, London has the lot.

The city is served by six international airports – Heathrow, Gatwick, London City, Stansted, Luton and Southend – so booking a cheap airport transfer will likely depend on where you’re staying.

Although London has one of the best public transport networks in the world, the majority of the major airports well outside the city, and fast train services, such as those from Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, can be pricey. You can take normal trains from all airports, however, some can take well over an hour.

So while a transfer may not be the cheapest option, it’s by far the most convenient. It’s also worth bearing in mind that if you’re travelling as a large group or family, it could still end up being good value.

To keep costs down, you may want to book a hotel within the general area to your airport. Roughly speaking, Heathrow is in the west, Gatwick is south, Stansted and Luton to the north and Southend to the east. London City airport is the only one within the city proper – if you’re flying here, public transport is your best bet.

Pre-booking a private transfer generally means less hassle, as you avoid the stresses of navigating the London Underground straight after a flight. If you’re looking to keep costs low, a shared bus or shuttle is a great, convenient option. Compare the airport transfer companies on TravelSupermarket to find discounts and some of the cheapest prices going.

Once you’re settled in the city, finding your way around on the Tube is easy – but you can beat the convenience of an airport transfer for that first trip.
