There are two airports in Reykjavik, Reykjavik City Airport (RVK) and Keflavik Airport (KEF). You are much more likely to fly into Keflavik Airport though, also known as Reykjavik International Airport, as Reykjavik City Airport is a domestic airport with a limited number of international flights.

It is around a 45-minute drive from Keflavik Airport to Iceland’s capital Reykjavik and an airport transfer will get you there quickly and comfortably. For families, the ease of being dropped at their door with all their luggage can be a serious hassle-avoider, while those on a mini-break will appreciate not wasting any precious time queuing for taxis or trying to navigate on public transport.

Transfer options at Keflavik Airport include cost-effective shuttle services, private transfers and minibuses. Many options include a meet-and-greet service and will take you straight to your accommodation. So all you need to do is sit back, relax and let your thoughts drift to the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon.

Public transfer options from Keflavik Airport include buses and taxis. While the bus may be a cheaper option, the journey will take around an hour and you’ll have to plan your route from the nearest bus stop to your hotel beforehand. If price is your priority, compare all of the transfer options well in advance of your trip as you may be pleasantly surprised by the options available, especially if you’re travelling as a group.

There are also a number of taxi companies offering services from outside arrivals. But, a pre-booked transfer will eliminate any potential stress – as your price is fixed and you can weigh up the options available in your own time.
