Holidays in PortAventura are all about having as much fun as possible – and you certainly won't be short of opportunities to do just that...
There's a world of adventure waiting to be explored at the action-packed PortAventura theme park alone. And the fact that the resort is just two hours from most UK airports is a big advantage for families with restless youngsters.
The attractions here are not just for younger children, though. From thrilling rides to near-vertical water slides, giggles can be found at every turn in PortAventura – and your whole excited clan will be sure to find something fitting for their age and taste in adventures.
For a change of scene, meanwhile, the resort of Salou – which surrounds PortAventura – is also home to some excellent beaches, while the lively cultural city of Barcelona is only a little over an hour away to the north.
In fact, PortAventura holidays can be enjoyed from Salou, which has a variety of accommodation options, as well as at one of the themed hotels within the PortAventura resort itself. But one advantage of picking PortAventura is that the themed hotels often offer free theme park admission for their guests. You can also choose the hotel that best suits your family's interests. So wannabe cowboys should check in for a stay at Hotel Gold River, while those looking for a taste of a tropical paradise choose Hotel Caribe.
A tour of the world is also part of the experience within the theme park, with six different areas representing regions and historical periods, including Polynesia, the Mediterranean and the Far West. Each features themed rides, shops and restaurants (including a brand new Costa Caribe Aquatic Park that promises a range of completely new thrills).

Summer breaks in PortAventura are popular thanks to average daily temperatures of around 27C – but there are plenty of ways to cool down. Spring and autumn are also busy thanks to warm days. The park operates limited opening hours outside of July and August, however, so check before you go. In the winter months the park generally only opens at the weekend, with the exception of Christmas and New Year. The water park, meanwhile, is only open between mid-May and the end of September.
Cheap PortAventura holiday packages can be found all year round, though the summer season brings the highest prices as well as the highest temperatures. You might be able to find a cheap family break during any of the school holidays outside of summer, though the water park might not be open.
There’s always something exciting happening at this fun-filled family destination...
