1. Spend Christmas in the sun from £417pp

If you’re looking to jet off for a sunny escape with your family over Christmas, Fuerteventura is wonderful over the festive period. And, I found a tempting deal flying from London Gatwick on 19 December – the day after many schools break up. You’ll stay for a week at the highly-rated, three-star Elba Castillo San Jorge & Antigua Suite Hotel in Caleta de Fuste, 700 metres from El Castillo beach.

While trips during the school holidays can often cost a fortune, this one works out at just £417 per person thanks to a free child place. What's more, it's with Jet2holidays, so your flights, luggage and shared transfers are included too.

The price is based on staying in a one-bedroom apartment with a sea view on a self-catering basis, but with a small kitchen setup in the apartment, you can save a fortune on food during what's often an expensive time to travel. Just make sure you plan where you're going for Christmas dinner!

2. Treat yourself to five-star all-inclusive luxury from £719pp

Fuerteventura, and the Canary Islands as a whole, are well known for being a brilliant winter sun destination. And, if you're someone who likes a touch of luxury, January is a great time to go as you can find bargains.

For this deal, you’ll fly from Birmingham on 9 January and will spend five nights at the five-star Paradisus by Meliá Fuerteventura, a recently refurbished resort right on Sotavento Beach. There are four pools, including a huge, heated saltwater pool, plus a wellness centre, gym and plenty of activities if you fancy doing more than just relaxing.

The all-inclusive package includes not only the buffet restaurant but à la carte options too, including an Italian restaurant serving homemade pasta, so you can really feel like you're treating yourself.

The £719 per person price is based on staying in a premium room, though you can upgrade to a sea view for £60 per person. Or, for £300 per person more, there's The Reserve, with exclusive adults-only areas and a private pool. My tip? Ask about upgrades on arrival. I did this at its sister hotel in Lanzarote and saved a fortune.

3. Soak up the late winter sunshine from £420pp

My final deal is in late February, when the weather in Fuerteventura is warm and pleasant, with maximum daytime temperatures of 20°C and rainfall at just 19mm per month.

It's also still a great time to bag a bargain, and this deal for two adults includes flights from Manchester and seven nights at the four-star Coral Cotillo Beach Hotel.

The hotel has a huge outdoor pool, which is heated during the winter months. But, if you prefer the beach, you're just 50 metres from El Cotillo's beautiful coastline which is popular with surfers.

Back at the hotel, breakfast is included in your £420 per person price, but you could bump it up to half board for just £33 more a night – and that's for both adults.
