Seeking a city break for less this summer? To give you a bit of last-minute inspiration, we’ve crunched the numbers at TravelSupermarket HQ to reveal where your money will go further.
Leading the charge is Krakow, coming in at just £283pp for a two-night package deal, inclusive of flights, hotel, one three-course meal and one ticket attraction, £220 cheaper than the most expensive European city break of Dubrovnik.
Closely following are the surprising additions of Dublin and Milan. With numerous flight options for Dublin allowing for plenty of choice, the average weekend break package comes in at £307pp. At £311pp, Milan might take consumers by surprise as a relatively affordable city break, if travellers avoid the notable tourist trap areas.
Over in Eastern Europe, Prague and Budapest both offer breaks averaging £333pp and £337p per person respectively, not too far off the cosmopolitan cities of Berlin, Madrid and Lisbon, who average between £356pp and £36pp. Sports fans might be happy to hear that Paris also squeezes in the top ten, averaging at £368pp for a two-night holiday package.
For those looking to avoid expensive city hotspots across Europe – Dubrovnik is one to steer clear of, offering the least value for money at a princely £506pp on average for a two-night package break. The ever-popular Amsterdam and Venice are next, priced at £403pp and £400pp respectively.
Across the pond, the average city break to either New York or Las Vegas will set you back nearly double or triple a European break, with an average two-night holiday package totalling £955pp in New York City and £1,279pp in Las Vegas.
