Punta Cana A longer holiday in the Dominican Republic can offer fantastic value.
Many of us stick to seven nights when searching for a cheap holiday. But get creative with your time frames by staying a little longer and you could actually get more for your money.
We ran the numbers at TravelSupermarket HQ to find the cheapest destinations for a 14-night holiday in 2024, then compared the prices for same package holiday deals across 7, 10 and 14 night stays.
The results? Extending a week's holiday by three or seven nights can offer better value and, in some cases, even cost you less!
Here, we round up eight destinations that offer the greatest value for money for holidays over seven nights.

A ten-night holiday that costs less than seven? It might sound impossible but that’s the case with this deal to Hurghada.
We found this seven-night all-inclusive for £717pp, while a similar deal for ten nights at the same hotel will set you back £689pp. That’s three extra days for £28pp less than if you booked a week’s break.
Use your three free days (technically at a profit if we’re talking girl maths) to perfect your tan from your sunlounger, treat yourself to that spa treatment you were debating or book in a camel safari in the desert.
If that doesn’t show the value of comparing your holiday dates, we don’t know what will!
From its sparkling beaches and Mediterranean sunshine to its UNESCO World Heritage sites and scrumptious cuisine, there’s so much to cram into a holiday in Paphos. With more time on your hands, you can get a taste of real Cypriot living – slow and sweet.
History buffs can take time exploring the Paphos Archaeological Park, beach bums can take a boat trip to the dazzling Blue Lagoon on Cyprus' western tip, and foodies can make sure they’ve had a proper fill of souvlakia and fish stew.
With an extra three nights in Paphos costing just £26 more (£526pp for ten nights compared to £500pp for seven), it’s an easy yes from us.
The Canaries are a great bet for a cheap sunshine escape in Spain and Gran Canaria can offer you more bang for your buck if you look beyond seven nights.
Book this week-long holiday in Playa del Ingles, for example, and it’ll cost you £437pp. Or you can pay a mere £80pp more – £517pp in total – and stay an extra three nights. Is there a better excuse to spend more time tanning and tucking into tapas?
Playa del Ingles’ epic beach stretches all the way south along the coast, eventually blending into Maspolomas’ golden dunes. It’s a top spot to relax and recover after late nights out at the resort’s buzzing bars and clubs.
A tropical paradise of palm-fringed sand and azure-coloured seas, you won’t need a lot of persuading to take a longer holiday in Punta Cana. Plus, with a nine-hour flight time from the UK, you’ll be thanking yourself for that extra time on the beach.
Our deal search found a seven-night getaway for £895pp. A 14-night stay at the same hotel came in at £979pp. Paying £84pp to sip cocktails and chase sunsets for seven more nights seems like a no-brainer – if your annual leave allows, that is.
Known for its luxury high-rise hotels and lavish seven-star resorts (apparently, it’s a thing), you might have discounted Dubai for a cheap break. But with a wealth of package deals, you can snap up a great value deal, even if you go for two weeks.
We found a holiday that costs £619pp for seven nights. Bump the trip up to 14 nights and you’ll pay £715pp overall. By spending just £96pp more on your holiday, you can double your time away. Now that’s a bargain.
That additional week may just be the difference between a brief beach break and a proper chance to unwind, too. Whether you stay poolside at your resort or pitch up on Jumeirah’s soft sand, your serotonin levels will only go one way – up.
Bulgaria’s Black Sea Coast and cheap package holidays are a familiar duo. Hotels offer great deals, restaurants are affordable, and it doesn’t cost a penny to soak up some sunshine on its miles-long golden beaches.
Any extra days at one of Varna’s popular resorts can be instantly filled with watersports, an extended day out at Action Aquapark or trips exploring nearby towns – take a step back in time in Nessebar’s ancient Old Town or spend a day hiking around the Bourgas region’s stunning lakes.
When we looked, this week-long holiday cost £385pp. Opt for a 14-night holiday instead and you’ll pay £549pp. That works out as £164pp more (£23 extra per day) for an additional seven nights.
Belek lives up to the promise of Turkey’s Turquoise Coast, with water wonderfully blue and warm caramel sands. Beyond the beach, the town is a hive of shops, restaurants and bars, while the surrounding coastline is awash with five-star golf clubs.
Swap a seven-night all-inclusive holiday for ten nights and our research reveals a £172pp price difference. That works out at £57pp a night for another three days – and that’s with all your food and drink included.
As for what to do in those three days, your options are endless. Take a day trip to Antalya’s old town, hop down the coast to see ancient Greek ruins in Side or treat yourself to spa treatment to round off your holiday with the ultimate pamper session.
Looking for a longer holiday in Florida without the price tag? Orlando is the place to go.
We found that extending your week-long holiday to 14 nights could cost you just £185pp more, with the same deal coming in at £722pp for 7 nights and £907pp for 14. That’s less than £200pp – or about £26pp per day – to double your time away.
That extra time will work in your favour. Orlando's theme parks are epic, and you’ll appreciate more time to tackle them at a slower pace. Hit up all Universal Resort’s rides and rollercoasters without rushing and worrying about queue times (why not even go round twice? You’ve got the time) or spend that extra week ticking off the Orlando Museum of Art, Science Centre and Madame Tussauds.
