The very best late summer escapes!

1. Make off for Malta from £527pp

Based in or nearby Newcastle? Well here’s a steal of a deal for you. How does a four-star stay under the Maltese sun sound?

You’re here for five nights, so there’s plenty of time to relax, and make the most of lounging by the pool. 2. Bask under the Benidorm sun with a chic stay from £449pp

Next up is this Benidorm stay at a hotel I’ve had my eye on for a while - it looks lush. You’ll be shacking up at Mercure Benidorm, a modern four-star hotel, on a bed and breakfast basis. The pool here looks unreal, surrounded by pretty trees; many of the fantastic reviews mention how beautiful this area is. Well, that and its proximity to the bar!

If you can bear to leave, this hotel is in a great location too. You’re just a ten-minute walk from the popular Poniente Beach and its 3km stretch of golden sand, and just a 15-minute walk to the Balcon del Mediterraneo viewpoint. Plus, there are so many places to eat and drink nearby should you want to explore and dine out.

Flying from Birmingham this stay starts at £449 per person, which is a great deal for a top-rated hotel at this time of year.

3. Snag a fancy five-star in the Algarve from £870pp

Finally, I thought I’d rustle us up a five-star deal for any fancy folk reading. Flying from London Gatwick, this deal is to the incredibly well rated EPIC SANA Algarve Hotel in Portugal’s Algarve.

This swanky spot has an enormous pool area surrounded by lush pine trees, and no fewer than five outdoor swimming pools. There’s also a spa with an indoor pool, and a fitness centre too. Rooms are super slick and contemporary, with loads of space and indulgent marble bathrooms. And whilst the rate just includes breakfast, if you want to eat here, you can choose from five restaurants serving-up both local and global flavours.

As for the local area, you can head out to Albufeira or Vilamoura – both are about a 20-minute drive away. Both have a plethora of places to choose from to eat, drink and even dance the night away. And when it comes to the closest beach, well it’s right outside! The hotel has direct access, with its own beach club where you can hire loungers and parasols and spend all day in your own little oasis.

At the end of August, this stay will set you back £857pp for five nights but just a week before, it would cost £1026 per person. That’s an extra £169 each! So, save the money and use it as spends instead!
