- If you drive into a casino, insist on parking the car yourself – and try to do so near an entrance lift where possible. This isn’t so much to save money (from not tipping valets) as time: valets can take a famously long time in Las Vegas to locate and return your vehicle, leaving you twiddling your thumbs.
- Are you staying in Las Vegas over a weekend? Then try to avoid Las Vegas Boulevard on Friday and Saturday evenings – it’ll almost certainly be gridlocked. Instead, get an app such as Mapquest to suggest alternative routes, or stick to the parallel side streets. The city’s grid-system layout makes this easy peasy, and they’ll be much quieter (and less distracting).
- You can pay with a credit card at most Nevada gas stations, but many of the machines tend to ask for your zip code – which is a problem! So it’s generally easier to pay inside the station in cash. Do this in advance of filling up, specifying how much of the tank you want filled.
