Holiday Hotlist: What is it? Where’s number one? And why you should consider Sicily…

Sicily emerged as a cheap and trending destination right now

We know that choosing a holiday destination can be tricky. The overall price of the trip is key, but you may also want to go to a location that’s popular with fellow Brits (or not!) and where the cost of living is affordable enough to enjoy a few drinks without your wallet wincing.

So, we’ve launched the TravelSupermarket Holiday Hotlist*, a handy tool that’s powered by TravelSupermarket data. It combines everything from average holiday prices to search interest and even the price of a local beer.

The result? A top 10 ranking of the very best holiday destinations, updated and revealed every month to help you stay on top of the latest trends and make an informed decision when it comes to booking a holiday.

We launched this tool in June and have just done our first ranking update. This saw a number of interesting changes as several destinations proved their package holiday credentials.

So, which are the holiday destinations that you need to know about this month and why? We reveal all below.

Antalya takes the top spot

There’s a new number one destination on our Holiday Hotlist in July as the dazzling aquamarine seas and pine-clad mountains of Antalya replace Tenerife at the summit.

Famed for its huge sandy beaches, ancient ruins, lively nightlife and impressive all-inclusive hotels, this popular destination in Turkey climbed the rankings partly thanks to a massive 172% increase in TravelSupermarket searches in June.

And not only is it our top trending destination at the moment, but it’s also among the cheapest for a beach break, with average seven-night holiday prices dropping to £594 per person last month.

With an abundance of swanky resorts to suit all tastes, local beer prices averaging just £2.50 and average family all-inclusive costs down compared to 2025, Antalya is a worthy leader on the Holiday Hotlist – and well worth considering for your next trip.

But Tenerife is getting cheaper

Tenerife may have been knocked off the top spot in the Holiday Hotlist, but it remains firmly among our top destinations right now as a result of an eye-catching average price shift.

The largest of the Canary Islands, bathed in year-round sunshine, Tenerife has long been associated with value-for-money breaks. And it’s living up to its reputation at the moment, with average seven-night holiday prices dropping by more than 16% in June, down to £577 per person.

As well as this significant price drop, its status as the cheapest all-inclusive destination for this summer, plus bargain local beers for just £2.25, also gave it a boost in the rankings. Although this wasn’t enough to eclipse Antalya in the latest Holiday Hotlist, it underlines the bang for your buck a Tenerife holiday can offer.

Keen interest in Greek islands

Aerial view of Sidari resort and beach in CorfuAerial view of Sidari resort and beach in Corfu

It wasn’t just Antalya that gained traction among TravelSupermarket searchers last month, with two Greek islands claiming spots in the Holiday Hotlist top five amid a huge spike in interest.

Searches for Corfu and Kefalonia, two must-visit summer destinations, increased by over 155%.

Both also feature among the cheapest Greek destinations for a five-star holiday, cementing their status among our top destinations right now.

It’s a different story when it comes to average seven-night holiday prices, however, with Kefalonia seeing an increase of around 9% while Corfu saw a drop of roughly 9%, nudging Corfu ahead to number three in the rankings. So, if you’re understandably torn between these two idyllic islands, there’s your deciding factor!

Why you should consider Sicily

The great thing about the Holiday Hotlist is that it spotlights destinations you may not have typically considered.

Sicily, home to Europe’s highest active volcano and full of historic sites, may not be as synonymous with package holidays as Tenerife or Corfu, but our latest data certainly highlights it as somewhere Brits are looking at.

TravelSupermarket searches were up by nearly 96% in June, contributing to a remarkable rise up the rankings. Previously, Sicily wasn’t even among our 20 most searched-for destinations, so there’s no doubt that it’s trending right now.

More excitingly, the other factor that has seen it rise to number eight in the Holiday Hotlist is an extremely attractive average seven-night holiday price of only £523 per person, down 11% and cheaper than any of the 20 most searched-for destinations that we analysed.

If Sicily wasn’t on your radar already, perhaps it should be…

What else happened in the latest Holiday Hotlist update?

Aerial view of Carvoeiro village with whitewashed houses along the golden cliff of the bay and golden sands of the beach belowAerial view of Carvoeiro village with whitewashed houses along the golden cliff of the bay and golden sands of the beach below

There were a few other key takeaways from the recent Holiday Hotlist update, all of which could be useful to know if you’re weighing up a holiday booking.

The Algarve saw one of the most significant drops in average seven-night holiday prices in June, falling by more than 14% to £603 per person.

Majorca remains popular among TravelSupermarket customers, but holiday prices remained more or less stable from May to June, which saw it drop three places in the rankings to number five.

Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and the Dalaman area were among the biggest losers in this month’s update, with all three seeing average prices increase in June and falling out of the top 10 as a result.

It was a fall from grace for Lanzarote, which was number four prior to the update. The Holiday Hotlist rewards low and falling prices to help you find the best deals, so destinations where this isn’t the case are liable to slide down the rankings.
