A Delicious Guide to Regional Cuisine
Europe is home to some of the world’s most iconic ingredients: chorizo from Spain, pasta from Italy, olives from Greece. These gastronomic giants have so much delicious produce to offer, we thought it worth a celebration. So, below are three tasty maps to help you explore the colours, textures and flavours on offer in every region of Italy, Spain and Greece. Use the magnifying glass to zoom in on all the juicy details and feast your eyes!
Spanish food is all about colour and texture. From the red and pink hued foods of the north, such as chorizo and red rioja grapes, to the fresh green artichokes and avocado of the south. Spanish food packs an abundance of flavours into one country. Buen provecho!
No surprise that pasta features across many regions of Italy. From everyone’s favourite, spaghetti, through to the shell shaped gnochetti sardi, there’s a variety for practically every town. It’s not all about pasta though, should you find yourself in landlocked Umbria, salumi is the order of the day and rice dishes feature heavily in the mountainous regions of the north. Buon appetito!
Lapped by crystal clear waters and blessed with favourable weather conditions, Greece is home to some of the world’s most iconic flavors. From the zingy tzatziki of the Ionian Islands to some of the finest olive oil in the world produced on the Aegean, be sure to indulge in all that this country has to offer. Kali órexi!
